Hey guys,

I'm really sorry about this, but I stopped using LJ  a while ago for personal reasons. I thought I'd deleted all the communities I maintain when I deleted my main journal joogie, but I just remembered that I hadn't done anything about this one and came back to see if I could do anything about it. Turns out that there isn't very much I can do because my managing journal is irrevocably dead and I don't think LJ has a policy on those situations. I know, it was amazingly stupid of me to do that before making sure I'd dealt with all my communities.

 So I'm really, really sorry, but I think the best solution is just to abandon this community and to make a new one where somebody who has more time than I do can maintain it. Besides, I think it's best that a community has somebody in charge of it with the ability to moderate in case anybody makes trouble (not that I expect that to happen with you lovely Three Investigator fans, but bad things can happen anywhere). I think that the username 3investigators is available if anybody wants to start that one up...

Again, muchly sorry. I'll put up a sign in the next post saying that the community is officially closed, and you guys can go off and have a lovely time in a new, properly maintained community. :)

AUTHOR’S NOTE: The Three Investigators books were published in the 1960’s, so the original stories reflect the trends and values of the time period.  For my own pleasure, I have “updated” the boys to exist in the 21^st century and our modern era.  Not to worry, though – I stay completely true to the characters and their unique personalities remain unchanged. 

I also have each of them finding romance in this particular fic.  Nothing at all mushy, I promise, but nevertheless I feel it is a very important part of their story.  After all, Jupe, Pete and Bob are normal, typical teenage boys, so realistically they would have begun showing a healthy interest in the opposite sex by now!

The last couple of posts/comments here have mentioned the Crimebuster series. I remember hearing about them, but never actually took the trouble to hunt them up and have a read because I thought that they simply wouldn't be worth it.

But my curiousity is rather piqued now. Those of you who are familiar with them - what do you reckon? Any use looking around for these, or would my money be better spent on something else? I'm mostly worried about how the characters of the boys have fared through the ordeal of growing up, since I find it pretty difficult to picture them as older than they are in the Robert Arthur era.

That also brings up another question. How old are they in the Crimebuster series? Late teens?

To help it start, we'll throw in one of those good old cliched discussion questions:

Who is your favourite Investigator, and why?

Mine is Pete, and pretty much always has been. He's the sort of person I would have been if I'd been in the Three Investigators' shoes - nervous and not particularly keen to find trouble, but interested nonetheless. I've always had a soft spot for those types, anyway. ;)
